More progress, logged on my lj: http://jauncourt.livejournal.com/182719.html

And also on BDK on Ravelry (mostly the same info).

However, the biggest news: I think I have it charted. Time to test knit.

*whoops like a crazy person*

Convention [Nov. 1st, 2010|06:45 pm]

So I've just finished up with the Halifax Sci-Fi/Fantasy Convention, and I was happy to see a few Jayne hats there . . . there was even a how to knit your own Jayne hat workshop! But the biggest news at the Con was during a Geeks vs Nerds debate. The debate was who is the best dashing rogue captain smuggler, Mal vs Han. Mal won by a landslide . . . helped along by the fact that Nathan Fillion called in to debate for himself! <3

An Attempt to write a pattern for Saffron's Shawl [Aug. 27th, 2010|06:32 pm]

Exactly what it says on the tin :)

I've got a wild hair (it started at BDK on Ravelry)to write a pattern for the red shawl. I've identified the stitch pattern, and I have a fairly good idea how to lay it out. I've spent part of the last week pausing the episode on our giant tv (boy am I glad I said yes when the Husband begged for us to buy this monster), and scanning though the screenshots at stillflying.net.

Well, so I don't get redundant, the entry with most of the current musings on it is here. I haven't scanned any drawings yet. I want to really figure out what's going on with the stitch pattern, because that one good view of the back is when she's dancing at the beginning.

Oh, and no, I don't plan on doing a Saffron costume. I just want to write the pattern, so it's out there. Yes, I think I might be crazy.

ETA: I mean a knitting pattern, I already know about the crochet version :)

ETA again: Updates on my journal, here and here.

Help needed [Aug. 18th, 2010|02:38 pm]
for the love of firefly and knitting (jayne hats!)

If this is off topic, please delete.

My fiancé and I are looking to adopt a dog. Not just any dog, but the right one for us. And we want to adopt from a shelter… so far, we’ve visited four shelters looking for the one that we can agree on. I don’t mind the time because this is an animal that we will be taking care of for years.

The last shelter we were at, I saw something very amazing. A man brought in his beloved dog because he had lost his job and couldn’t afford to feed her. And I watched the way the dog tried to comfort him by nuzzling his hand, by licking away his tears. I was just so ready to say we’ll give this dog a home until you get on your feet, when something just short of a miracle happened. The shelter gave him a referral to a pet food pantry.

The economy isn’t improving. Food shelters are begging for help to feed everybody- especially donations of tuna and beef stew. This is food easily turned into pet food. More and more families are facing the problem of how to feed themselves and their pets. Let’s make Thanksgiving a little extra special this year for the pet food banks.

What I want to do is set up a fan auction where I have writers, artist, crafters, icon makers and mix makers auctioning their services for a donation to the pet food pantry of their choice. This is how I need help- first, please boost the signal to every fan community you know of, so I can get traffic to fanslovepets. Second- that fiancé I mentioned? Our wedding date is 12/18- I need co-maintainers, people who maybe know what they are doing. Third- I need writers, crafters, artist, music mixers to donate their time and energy.

Fourth- I need somebody to really give me a list of current popular fandoms. And the last thing I need- a good icon.

Heads up and a question [Jul. 29th, 2010|12:08 pm]

Question first. To the folks who attended Comic-Con, how'd it go? Were there many Browncoats in attendance and how were sales?

Second, this came across one of my lists this morning... You may have seen it before, but it was new to me... Jayne Cobb modified My Little Pony.
